The Brexit Effect on Online Dating
/ James Preece
The British public recently made a huge decision that has the potential to change the entire country. They voted to decide whether or not they should leave the EU, so they could cut down on immigration and take charge of their own rules and regulations. After the referendum, the shocking result was 52% to 38% that they would indeed leave. This sent the pound into freefall and doom and gloom merchants predicting another recession and dire financial implications.
The big question for all you singles out there now is: Will Brexit have any effect on your online dating results? After all, that’s the most important “single market” of all.
Better Deals
First of all, I expect Online Dating Sites to offer better prices on memberships than ever before. They are aware that consumers will be more careful with their spending habits, so they have to become more competitive. I’ve already seen a trend for discounting over the last year so this will continue. That’s great news for singles looking to sign up, and finding a partner is always going to be something worth investing in.

5 Things Shakespeare Taught Us About Love
/ By James Preece
This year marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, who is probably the most famous playwright in history. While he is known for his writing skills, he was somewhat of a relationship expert, too. He knew exactly how to seduce, entice and romance just through the use of words.
Love is Love is Love is Love
“Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.”
- Sonnet 18
This is one of Shakespeare's most well-known sonnets about love and perhaps his most powerful. It’s all about how love is eternal, never fading and brings hope.

How to Survive a Holiday Romance
/ By James Preece
When you go away on vacation, it can be a perfect opportunity to meet lots of new people since you’ll be much more relaxed, positive and happy than normal, too. If you are lucky, you may find you click with someone special and everything seems wonderful but the difficulty comes once you part and make your way back home.
Be Realistic
Before you even think about how to make the holiday relationship work, do have a good think about whether or not you really want it to. How compatible are you really? Do you both want similar things in life and do you know them well enough to keep it going? Quite often you may decide that the memory of the times you shared together is much better than trying to force things in the real world.
Talk Often
We are very lucky to live in a world of modern technology, which helps brings us all closer together than ever before. Not only do we have Facebook and mobile phones but Skype as well, and this allows you to not only talk as much as you want, but also see each other. Thanks to technology it couldn't be easier for you to keep getting to know each other regularly. Ideally, you’ll want to have some form of contact at least once a day.
Keep Your Options Open
It can be tempting to fantasize about the future, the next time you meet and how you’ve found “the one” and how wonderful it will be. At the same time, you’ll probably cut off all the other possibilities you might have had or close down your online dating profile which would be a big mistake at this stage. You don’t really know what might happen and you may never even see them again. Therefore, keep your options open and you won’t have time to be disappointed if things don’t go as planned.
Try to Meet Quickly
I know you’ll naturally want to do this, but try and meet up face-to-face as soon as you can possibly do so. That’s the only way that you’ll know for sure if you really do have a future together. Life away from cheap cocktails and beautiful sunsets will be much different than you imagine and you’ll know soon enough if you are compatible. If one of you dreams of settling down and having children but the other has no intention of this and wants to play the field, it’s in both your interests to call it quits.
Trust Each Other
If you do choose to give your relationship a go, you will both have to learn to trust each other since there’s nothing worse than one of you hiding secrets or being keener than the other. However, the problem is that trust has to be earned and rarely comes quickly, and so you both have to be as honest as possible and work hard to try and show them how much they mean to you.
Remember that even if things don’t work out with this person, there are thousands more possible people out there for you who are closer to home. If you’d like to find out where they are, do check out our online dating advice section.
